Dr Eugene D'souza

Dr Eugene D’Souza has over 20 years of health service experience. After a successful career as a physiotherapist, Dr D’Souza commenced medical training with the view of helping his patients in a holistic manner. He is passionate in his vocation of caring for older persons and understands the importance of an individual’s life journey and balancing their medical needs. 

 

Dr D’Souza undertook his post-graduate medical training at the University of Notre Dame Australia in the School of Medicine, Sydney; and graduated with Honours. He completed his Basic Physician Training with St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and undertook Advanced Training in Geriatric Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital, Peninsula and Monash Health services. He has worked across all sectors of health care including acute medical services, rehabilitation, community services and aged care. Additionally, he has worked in the specialty areas of Aged Psychiatry, Dementia with Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD), Movement Disorders, Orthogeriatrics, Palliative Care, Home Rehabilitation and Aged Care support roles (e.g. InReach). Dr D’Souza has additional qualifications in Health Services Management and is a member of the Governance Committee for Vermont Aged Care. He has a public consultant appointment with Peninsula Health. 

 

Dr D’Souza is a strong advocate for holistic care. Chronic diseases and geriatric syndromes such as Dementia, Falls and Frailty are complex with health services being equally challenging to navigate. Dr D’Souza prides himself on his empathy and communication in supporting patients and their families transition through new phases in their life. This includes optimising their quality of life and planning for their future.
